Behold the crown of suffering

Behold the crown of suffering

Mar 21, 2020

“Crown Him with many crowns the Lamb upon His throne, hark how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own! “

The man Jesus wore an unusual crown to demonstrate to all the world that He was and is the Lamb of God who took away our sins.  That crown was a crown of suffering made of thorns. Roman soldiers wove it together on Good Friday, placed it on his head and hailed him as King of the Jews (Mark 15:17).  They were mocking him and everyone who loved him, even all the Jews who hated him.  Their false worship of him has turned into true worship unto the King of kings and Lord of lords. He has suffered the most that we might suffer the least.

The coronavirus is certainly a sign of suffering and death. It has stems that look like little crowns. Be not to alarmed by this little cell!  All who fear, love and trust in God’s Son Jesus around the whole world, this very day, have peace with God and can sing hymns of praise because He has conquered death.  For He has “destroy(ed) the one who has the power of death, that is the devil, and deliver(ed) all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery” (Hebrews 2:14-15).

Stare not at this virus.  It too is defeated and shall be defeated again because of the One who died to set us free.  Behold this Man whose blood cells have power unto assurance of eternal life.  “He is thy health and salvation.”
